Lori Dewitt (Musical Theatre)

In her 30+ year teaching career, Ms. Lori has taught students on every level from elementary through college. With a Bachelor of Music Education from LSU, a Master of Music from UNO and 60+ hours of completed course work towards a Master in Theatre Direction, Ms. Lori has taught choir, piano, musical theatre, stagecraft, private voice, speech, acting, theatre appreciation, Talented Music and Talented Theatre. She served on the Louisiana State Thespian Board for 18 years and was twice named the PTA Educator of Distinction. Ms. Lori was also a state finalist for Louisiana Teacher of the Year and a recipient of the St. Tammany Arts Council Bravo Award.

 A director, music director, and choreographer of over 75 shows on the school level, Ms. Lori has also worked and performed on other local stages including Slidell Little Theatre, where she was the recipient of 2 Ginny Awards. She has also performed at the North Star Theatre, Le Petit, Rose Dinner Playhouse, UNO, and Rivertown Repertory for which she was nominated for a Big Easy Award. She also served as the Director for the summer Music and Drama Camp at First Methodist Church Slidell for many years.

 Students of Ms. Lori have regularly placed amongst the best in the state in Individual Event and scholarship competitions qualifying them to compete on the national level where they were selected to perform on numerous occasions. Her students have gone on to become professional actors, writers, technicians, designers and teachers working in New Orleans, Chicago, New York, Disney parks all over the world as well as in the educational field. She believes in inspiring her students to strive for excellence through hard work, dedication and passion.
